Research at the intersection of structural dynamics, smart lightweight structures, deployable systems, nonlinear dynamics, and additive manufacturing.
At the Lab of Adaptive Structures, we study how structures can use geometry, dynamics, materials, and control to do more than simply carry loads. Our research combines analytical and computational modeling with experiments and advanced manufacturing to create lightweight structures that can fold, move, adapt, and interact with their environment. We are particularly interested in problems where fundamental mechanics can lead to new capabilities in deployable structures, robotics, vibration control, and smart mechanical systems.
